Mets, Red Sox take first games of their series

6/2/2017

The playoffs are underway, and the games have been fun and competitive!

Cardinals vs. Red Sox
Thursday, the Red Sox squeaked through with a 6-5 victory over the Cardinals. Cardinals pitcher Michael Twigg dominated the first half of the game, but the Sox's bats came alive down the stretch.

Mets vs. Orioles
Tuesday, the underdog Orioles jumped ahead of the Mets 1-0 in the first, 3-1 in the third, and 6-3 in the fifth, only to have the Mets come roaring back. In the first and third, Bryan McCann did the honors, hitting two home runs, a solo and a two-run shot over the center-field fence.

In the fifth, with the bases loaded, Joel Gandy hit a high floater into the dead zone between the second baseman and the right fielder, tying up the game at 6.

In the bottom of the sixth with two on base and no outs, Ethan Heidel Roberts came up to bat. Having struck out twice already, he was more than ready to get a hit, and he tagged the ball for a high walk-off home run to left center field! Congrats to Ethan for a timely first home run of the season!

The second playoff games for Little League are Saturday at noon and at 4.
